Tongan parliament to vote on Pac Games

NUKU’ALOFA-June 22: 1:45pm(RNZI): There appears to be a slim chance Tonga’s government could be forced to change its mind about the country pulling out of hosting the 2019 Pacific Games.

BUCHAREST, Romania-June 22: 1:42pm(Matangi Tonga): Tongan rugby exports to Romania, helped secured a big win for Romania in a test match against Canada over the weekend. Tongan born winger Tangimana Fonovai scored two tries for his adopted country, resulting in a 25 – 9 victory over the Canadians.

Tonga’s obesity epidemic is causing big trouble in paradise

Almost a quarter of Tongans over the age of 30 suffer from Type 2 diabetes. Every weekday Vaiola Hospital’s diabetes clinic in the Tongan capital of Nuku’alofa is crowded with patients. Many are in wheelchairs and have had a foot or leg amputated because of diabetic foot infections or sepsis.
