Takitoa confirmed as TASANOC CEO and Secretary General
NUKU’ALOFA-October 25: 11.21am (Nuku’alofa Times): Longtime sports administrator Takitoa Taumoepeau has been confirmed as the Secretary General-Chief Executive Officer of the Tonga Sports Association and National Olympic Committee (TASANOC).
His confirmation was approved by the TASANOC Executive Board at its meeting last Friday, October 21.
TASANOC President Lord Tupou confirmed the appointment in a media statement today.
“The appointment was according to the new changes to TASANOC Constitution in which the position was no longer elected by the General Assembly but appointed by the Executive Board,” Lord Tupou said.
Takitoa has been acting as Interim Secretary General since the TASANOC General Assembly for election last June while the position was advertised.
He thanked the President and the Executive Board for the trust that they had in him and his appointment.
And he asked for continual support from members “and a close working relationship so that we can all take TASANOC to a better level in the coming years”.
He added that it is now a challenge for him and TASANOC with Tonga hosting the XVI Pacific Games in 2019.
