Tonga’s Chief Secretary resigns to join husband in the States
SUVA, Fiji – July 12, 2018: 2.55pm (Nuku’alofa Times): A new Chief Secretary at the Prime Minister’s Office and Secretary to Cabinet is expected to be named soon following the resignation of incumbent Dr Palenitina Langa’oi Tiueti.
Dr Palenitina has resigned to join her husband who is being sent to California by the United Methodist Church.
Dr Siliveinusi Tiueti had been teaching at Tonga’s Sia’atoutai Theological College.
He has been moved to a parish in San Francisco.
Dr Palenitina told Radio New Zealand her intention was also to pursue studies for the ministry.
Prime minister ‘Akilisi Pohiva said he supports her choice and wishes her well.
She was appointed to the position in 2015.
