Four arrested with drugs
Nuku’alofa – May 8, 2019: 9am (Nuku’alofa Times): Four people were arrested with illicit drugs, including ice, in Longolongo here on Tongatapu last Friday.
Deputy Police Commissioner Pelenatita Fe’ao Vaisuai confirmed this today.
The Police Drug Enforcement Taskforce arrested four people at a residence in Longolongo with illicit drugs packed ready for sale.
The haul included 55 packs of cannabis (49.86 grams) and 15 packs of methamphetamine (97.47 grams) along with drug paraphernalia and cash.
DPC Vaisuai said the four arrested included a 35-year-old man from Longolongo, a 29-year-old man from Hala’ovave, a 30-year-old man from Hoi and a 26-year-old man from Haveluloto.
“All accused persons are in police custody to appear in Court at a later date,” DPC Vaisuai said.
“These arrests should reassure the community that preventing illicit drugs supply is a high priority for Police. We will continue to target those who supply drugs within our community, and hold them to account for their crimes.”
Police is asking for help and are asking anyone who may have information about drug related offending to contact Police Emergency Number, 922.
